Jamaican vocalist Dandy Livingstone’s first hit, “What A Life,” was a vocal duo recording on which he performed both parts through the technique of overdubbing. His ability to capture quality performances on both sides of the studio glass window earned Livingstone a reputation for production that led to his 1968 signing with Trojan Records and production on Blow Your Horn. Therefore, it can be presumed that the vocal duo performance featured on “The Lion Sleeps” was created by Livingstone using the same overdubbing method.
